Valve train
Valve train refers to all parts which control how the valves work.
e.g. cams.
Poppet valves
Poppet valves control the flow of fuel intake and exhaust. The poppet valves are pushed down by the cams. Poppet valves need valve springs so that they stay closed when the cam is not hitting them.
Valve arrangement
Cam in block arrangement is where the camshaft is placed in the cylinder block. The cam in block engine is now considered old fashioned. The cam in block arrangements is usually placed beside or slightly above the crankshaft in an inline engine. In a v type engine they are placed directly above the crankshaft.
Engine Size
Engine size can be calculated in CC or cubic centimeters. To calculate cubic centimeters just take the engine liters and multiply by 1000 and you can usually get the engine cc’s.
